Technical innovations and constant further development by members of the community made TYPO3 so successful. The possibility to implement your own extensions with the Extension Manager and make it available for others at the same time proved to be the innovation engine within TYPO3. Open standards and interfaces to other technologies make the application of TYPO3 very flexible.
The simple concept of a hierarchic page tree with content elements and Plug-Ins, which can be combined freely, account for the flexibility of the system. Every site can consist of different, independent applications and contents, which is something only few CMS solutions can manage.
